What's in The Based Update's Mailbox ft. 1Two Clothing

What's in The Based Update's Mailbox ft. 1Two Clothing

Oh yes! We got our third "What's in The Based Update's Mailbox?" feature! Who dosen't like getting mail, especially when its clothing? Today we got a fresh package from 1Two Clothing. Continue below to see what we got and our review of what we think!

When it comes to this clothing line, I came across them on the internet just in my everyday process of looking at different clothing sites that I can find. When I came across this site; not only was it very clean and professional, but the gear popped out at you. I was able to get a hold of the owners and they were down for a review so we made it happen. Shout out to 1TWO! The simple yet fashion-trendy-gear makes you want to wear what you are thinking; weather it's "SWAG!" "I'M DOIN ME" "LEGOOO!" "All I Do is Win" or "All Black Everything." There are plenty of examples to list, but what you need to do is check it out for yourself!

This was in our mailbox!

Packaging: The packaging was advanced, compact, and very secure. The shipping was also priority mail which is always a plus because nobody wants to wait for clothes to come in! Also, all the items inside the sturdy box were all individually wrapped in poly bags making it more secure and safe. On top of that you can see insulated foam filling up the box as well. So now you know, packaging and shipment from 1TWO Clothing will never be a problem.

Design: As I stated before with that wear-what-you-feel type of feeling with this line, it comes to life with the designs! They are bright, greatly printed, heavy material shirts. If I was allowed one word to talk about design it would be SOLID!

Quality: 1TWO Clothing is very high quality when it comes to their clothes. All the material are heavy, thick, good fitting, and well printed. When it comes to the checkout, don't think twice because there is nothing to worry about.

Whats left: As I have stated before, my favorite part of any purchase are little extra things that make an order not only complete, but over the top. In this case, we got some pins, stickers, business cards, a discount code, and a fresh SWAG! snapback hat. With every purchase you receive an exclusive discount code to get a hook on your next purchase. After your first purchase that discount will have you wanting more!

Is it Approved?: Uhhh Duh? (ahahaha) It's got that thumbs up approval. As you can see there really isn't any weakness when it comes to 1TWO Clothing's Packaging, Design, or Quality.

Final Word

All of this gear and many many more items are on their website so get on it! Bookmark their site and store and stay ready for new items!

LRG 2011 Fall Lookbook

LRG has never fallen off the map, but it did seem like it fell off with age. That meaning; it felt as if LRG was a high school thing, it was cool but it seemed that kind of easy, clean, cut, and predictable style should be left behind. This new fall collection falls away from age, this can easy be a style anyone of any age with style could pull off. Good work LRG!

Big Bear has always been known as SoCal’s getaway to indulge in winter activities for the weekend warrior. For the Holiday 2011 shoot LRG explored a lesser-known path, and found a native and industrial setting that styled perfectly with the holiday line. This shoot features musician Blu, LRG Artist Driven artist Augor, LRG Snow team rider Justin Bennee, and LRG skate team members Chico Brenes, Tommy Sandoval and Billy Marks. Look for Holiday 2011 now through LRG retailers and online.

The Audi E-Tron Spyder

The future is here!

The Audi e-tron Spyder features what is without a doubt the most advanced and simultaneously the most consistent evolution of the current Audi design language, while also providing initial hints at the design language of future Audi sports cars. It reinterprets the most important design elements that already characterized the previous e-tron concept vehicles. This also ensures the necessary formal differentiation to the purely electric-powered Audi e-tron shown at the 2010 Detroit Motor Show. The two-seater is equipped with a 300-hp twin-turbo V6 TDI at the rear axle and two electric motors producing a total of 64 kW at the front axle. The Audi e-tron Spyder's low total weight of 3,196 lbs combined with the high-torque TDI and the two electric motors results in respectable performance. The car accelerates to 60 in less than 4.5 seconds, and top speed is electronically governed at 155 mph.

DJ Amen Interview

DJ Amen Interview

Tell us about yourself. What’s your name? Where are you from?
-Amen is my handle, and my jurisdiction early in life was in the Northern regions of the Bay. I have had a passion for music for as long as I can remember. I got my first pair of turntables from an ad in the back of the Source magazine when I was a freshman in high school, and have been determined ever since to soak up as much of the music game as possible. A lot of people know me for my work finding and working with up and coming artists as well as a 106.1 KMEL All Star DJ for the past 5 years. I currently work out of, and live in downtown San Francisco.

What is the significance of your name, DJ Amen? How did you get that name?
-My older brother gave me the name after I got out of a group home when I turned 18. I came out of the program with a better understanding and focus to keep myself out of trouble and stay away from the negative situations we are all surrounded with everyday. The name was so strong that it stuck with me, and I have been blessed for everything to consistently work out for me while chasing my dreams with music all these years.

What was the first record that you ever bought and when did you start scratching and mixing on turntables?
-I really don’t remember, I think it was an old compilation of early 80’s New York novelty hip-hop records I found. I remember my first CD I ever bought was a Pete Rock and CL Smooth album while riding around with my dad in SF one day.

Who and what are your influences?
-In the early days I really looked up to people like Afika Bambaataa and Jam Master Jay (whom I actually got to meet in SF before he passed), then as I got deeper in the culture, I respected the people who pushed the boundaries like Mix Master Mike and Q-bert. When I got older and more into the radio/music business side of it, I started to really follow people like Funk Master Flex, Felli Fel, Big Von, etc… I think people shaping the culture influence me.

If you could choose one artist to collaborate with, who would it be? Why?
-Somebody that’s out there that nobody knows yet. All the big artists that everybody listens too today started somewhere. Over time, we have seen the Eminems, Jays, Drakes, and right now there is somebody out there that will be better than all of them someday. I want to find that person and work with them as they are developing themselves.

Out of all the songs in your library, which one ‘never fails?’
-I’m from the Bay. “Blow the Whistle” by Too Short is and will forever be a party starter.

This site’s purpose is living and representing the Based lifestyle. What does the word "based" mean to you?
-I feel like most of the Bay Area terms, “Based” has many uses and can mean almost anything you want it to. For me it’s a feeling born from the youth being fearless and careless while having passion and determination to be original while getting things done their way. It comes from the younger generation being raised in a very independent culture and the by-product of hippies and hustlers. It’s an “I don’t care what you think” vibe with a “we are going to get things done with or without you” attitude.

Are you working on any upcoming projects you would like to share with everyone?
-Because I am always working with young artists, tastemakers, other DJ’s, etc… there is always something going on in the world of Amen. I would say DJ’ing is the one thing I do the least of these days. I try to keep DjAmen.com updated as much as possible so people can keep up with me on a regular basis.

What’s something that people might not know about you?
-That I really try and listen to every song somebody gives to me. I don’t have the time to respond to all the emails because there is not enough time in the day but if I hear something I will track the person down. You never know who will have the next big record.

What’s some advice you can give to upcoming/aspiring DJ’s that you have learned so far that may come in handy to someone else?
-Make sure that you always think long term and build good credit in the industry. Try and help as many people out as possible because you never know where some people will end up in a not so distant future. Also understand that branding/marketing and networking are the best things you can do on a daily basis that don’t always cost a lot of money or require waiting on somebody else.

Where can people find more about you?
-My website (www.DjAmen.com) is the hub for everything Amen, and you can keep up with me daily on my Facebook and Twitter.

Bobby Brackins "Pimp Hand Strong" Update

Bobby Brackins "Pimp Hand Strong" Update

Your mixtape "Pimp Hand Strong" has been doing good things, everyone seems to be loving that music. What's the next project coming from Bobby Brackins?
-Yeah man it's dope that people are showing love to Pimp Hand Strong, i really stepped out of the box and tried to do something people wouldn't expect!! i think i'm calling my next project gross, i'm already back in the studio.

You have been steadily dropping videos from your "Pimp Hand Strong" mixtape, can we continue to expect more new videos from that project?
-Pimp Hand Strong has so many dope songs on it that could really get big so i don't want to move on from it to quickly. I'm going to keep dropping videos and pushing Pimp Hand Strong records to get the project heard.

From those upcoming videos that you are making, which one are you looking forward to making the most? Why?
-"Santa Barbara" "I don't care" "NC-17" and "Right Now" are up next!! im excited about them all.

For you personally, which song is your favorite from the "Pimp Hand Strong" mixtape? Why?
-That's really hard. it changes all the time. it just depends on the mood i'm in.

The number one question that I have got from the mixtape is, "What's the symbolism of the naked girl with a ski mask on the cover?" What is the symbolism?
-A picture of a naked women shows vulnerability, having a gun symbolizes power, and ski mask represents mystery. Pimp Hand Strong is about life and it's many contrasts.

Anything else you want to let the people know?
-Follow me on the twitter @BobbyBrackins and come to a show; Live Good! Dannon all day.

-If you haven't downloaded the "Pimp Hand Strong" mixtape, you are really missing out. Visit the Official Website for Bobby Brackins and download it!

GQ: Lil Wayne Interview in 2011 November Music Issue

Described as both ornery and as a genius, Lil Wayne is profiled in the November issue of GQ. The interview runs the gamut of topics, from both his outward appearance, to the resentment he holds inside against his father. Writer Claire Hoffman catches up with Weezy in a haze of weed and eccentrics, where at 1 a.m. he finally opens up. Check out some choice excerpts below and head to GQ to read the piece in its entirety.

I hear you plan to retire when you turn 35?
Basically, I have been doing this for eighteen years. That’s reason number one. I have accomplished all that I have set out to accomplish and more. Also, I have a label, and I’ve only put out two artists [Drake and Nicki Minaj]. I have a lot more work to do, and it’d be selfish to not focus on being the boss and focus on their projects.

But the main reason is my kids, my children. Now, if I thought I’d be selfish to my artists, imagine what I think I would be doing to my kids. I have enough money that they don’t have to ever do anything—which, they will do everything, ’cause they ain’t getting shit. [cackles wildly] Six [more] years, I can do this Lil Wayne thing, and my boys will be about 7 and 8 years old. And man, it’s all about them then. You know, whatever they’re doing. Sports. Whatever they’re into. That’s where I am. I’m at every game. I’m the dad with the hat on. The jersey. That’s me.

You’re sober now? No more syrup?
I’m good. I ain’t tripping. I’m used to it now. But I was never on heroin or cocaine or Ecstasy or nothing like that. I drank syrup and smoked a lotta weed. I wish I could be back on it. That’s how it fucking feels. [cracking himself up]“How does it feel to be sober?” I’ll be like, “It feels fucked-up.” What you want me to say? “It feels great”? No. I was on something that the doctor prescribed. I was ill, and that was helping me.

What’s up with all the skateboarding?
You know, I don’t know. Everybody asks me that question, like, “What made you start skating?” Yeah, well, um…I don’t know. I’m still like a kid, because unfortunately my childhood was raped away from me because I became a star, a rapper, or whatever you want to call it, and you can’t be a kid and a rapper at the same time. So I watch television and I get real amped. Like, people watch commercials, and they’re like, “Who’s gonna buy that?” I’m the person they make the commercials for. I watch them, and I’m like, “Oh God, that’s awesome.” So I was just watching TV, and I was like, “Yeah. I want to do that!” And I called a guy and I said, “I want a ramp on my roof.” I have a pretty big roof at home. So I put a ramp on the roof about five months ago, and man, I’ve been skating ever since.

How does life look right now through Lil Wayne’s glasses?
I can describe it like this: Today I was riding up to the venue. I had just woken up, and I looked out the window, and there was like a billion cars in the parking lot. I turned to my girl, and I said, “Isn’t it crazy how all those cars and all those people are there to see me?” And the craziest part was I still could get that feeling. All this time, after all those albums, videos, all those awards and money and groupies and homeys and gangbanging and friends and no-longer friends. That I can still get that feeling, like, “Wow. This is amazing.” That’s what it is to be me. Yeah.

Throwback Thursday #4

Throwback Thursday #4

The fourth Throwback Thursday features The Pack in their arguably best created track ever. That track is "Wolfpack Party," this song came out about a year ago and it was the official single off The Pack's final album "Wolfpack Party."

From all the knowledge I have received and news from people around... this was The Pack's last album. As you know they are all know doing their own things, and pursing their own solo careers. If you never picked up a copy of their album "Wolfpack Party" I suggest you do, it was their best album. If you have been a fan since Wolfpack Muzik Vol. 1 like I have, you know that their originals are still classic and full of good music, but this was the perfect combination of all four artists in their final album.

Pretty Jamee "Based Beauties"

Pretty Jamee "Based Beauties"

Name: Pretty Jamee
Nationality: Brazillian/ Italian
Hometown: Miami,FL
Measurements: 34-22-36
Website(s): Twitter, Official Website, Facebook, UStream, Model Mayhem

How did you get involved with modeling? How long have you been doing it for?
-I have been modeling professionally for a year 1/2. I started out by joining one of the most popular talent agencies in my city & networking pursuing to promote my brand.

What is your favorite part about modeling? What is your least favorite part?
-My favorite part about modeling is being made up and feeling absolutely beautiful & also the fact that I am able to inspire others & change lives. My least favorite thing about modeling is the sterio type the people perceive models to be and also the fact that not many in this industry are 'real.'

What has been the highlight so far of your modeling career?
-Being booked to host an event in London England was amazing and humblizing. Being born there and going back because they love Pretty Jamee.

Being a model, and noticing what people like about you, what part of your body would you say attracts the most attention?
-My hour glass figure, 22 inch waist and nice bubbly ass :)

If you could choose one person to have a photo shoot with, who would it be? Why?
-Diddy, I'm so impressed by him and it would be an honor to work with him.

If you had the option to model for any brand in the world, what brand would it be? Why?
-I would definitely model for Gucci, I love their collections and also their style.

What is something that people don’t know about you?
-I can sing very well, I started to sing professionally before I descided to put 100% of me in modeling.

What is the worst and best thing anybody has tried to do to get your attention?
-Best, I had someone sing to me spontaneously in front of 80 people. The worst, would be someone calling too much leaving & sending too many messages.

What do you think of the word “based” and what it represents?
-I think the word Based is a powerful leadership word and I agree and support everything it represents.

What words of advice would you give to all the young girls out there aspiring to be models?
-Be YOU, be persistent, be professional and never give up and remember, its not that your look is bad, your look just might not be what they are looking for at the time.

Where can we find and learn more about you?
-Follow me on Twitter and I stream live every thursday at 9pm (est) on Ustream.

What's in The Based Update's Mailbox ft. Hidden Hype Clothing

What's in The Based Update's Mailbox ft. Hidden Hype Clothing

Oh yes! We got our second "What's in The Based Update's Mailbox?" feature! Who dosen't like getting mail, especially when its clothing? Today we got a sick package from Hidden Hype Clothing. Continue below to see what we got and our review of what we think.

Until recently I did not know about Hidden Hype Clothing, but I am glad I now know about them! As stated on the back of their tags and in their look-books, "Hidden Hype is not just a clothing line, it's a lifestyle. There is a lot of conspiracy's in this world and that's our inspiration. The world is corrupt and the majority of people ignore it. Hidden Hype was founded specifically for the individuals with a passion for fashion. Bringing you in depth concepts in multiple ways, you won't only look good, but you will be expoliting the truth of the world."

This was in our mailbox!

Packaging: The packaging was simple, compact, and secure. The shipping was priority mail which is always a plus because nobody wants to wait for their gear to come in! When it came to inside the package nothing was wrapped, but in this case that is not a problem. Everything was really secure so it's wasn't neccessary. No problems in that area. So now you know, packaging and shipment from Hidden Hype Clothing will never be a problem.

Design: As stated on their website " We want to make sure you are wearing the clothes; not the clothes wearing you. We not only care about the size fitting you, but but we want to make you feel good about what you’re wearing because of the premium garment." That feeling comes through the designs; they are crisp, stylish, and street worthy! All of their clothes on their website are clothes that anyone would want to wear.

Quality: Hidden Hype clothing is very high quality when it comes to their clothes. The material for the t-shirts are thick, well fitting, and well printed. There are multiple tags on the t-shirts which makes their gear even more legit! When it comes to purchase time, don't second guess quality because it's nothing to worry about, if anything it will succeed your expectations.

Whats left: My favorite part of any purchase are little extra things that make the order not only complete, but over the top. In this case, we got a buch of Hidden Hype stickers! Who doesn't love stickers?! Along with the stickers we also got a couple look-books to look through. Inside the look-books are not only their buisness card for you to keep, but also a lot of information and high quality professional pictures on other gear available for purchase. Hidden Hype will have you "hyped" on getting yourself more gear!

Is it Approved?: Yes! Is it approved with Two Thumbs Up! As you can see I really cant pinpoint a weakness when it comes to Hidden Hype Clothing. Their Packaging, Design, and Quality really are on point! It is stated on their website that their main focus is quality, and they have lived up to that. Get with Hidden Hype and get yourself some gear!

Final Word

All of this gear in the post are available along with more clothes at their official online store. Make sure to get to their website and get you some! Bookmark their Official Site and stay up on upcoming news through their blog.

Steve Jobs 1955-2011

How do you not put in a spot for Steve Jobs since he passed away just this week. Take a look at some info about him and take a look at his Commencement Address he gave to Stanford in 2005. It's inspiring. I am sure there will be a well documented documentary about him coming out very soon. What he created will be known forever.

Former chief executive of U.S. technology giant Apple Steve Jobs has passed away. “We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today,” read an official statement by Apple’s board of directors. The company also stated “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich our lives. The world is immeasurable better because of Steve.” Fellow inventor and business rival Bill Gates paid homage by saying “Jobs profound impact would be felt for many generations to come.” The former Microsoft CEO also added: “For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.”

The company founded by Jobs in the 1970s said that “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being.” Another statement from the technology empire also added “Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.” The Silicon Valley icon gave the world digital marvels including the MacBook, the iPod, and the iPhone amongst others. Sadly, his death came just a day after Apple unveiled its latest iPhone 4s model. He was just 56.

In 2004, Jobs announced that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer and had a liver transplant five years earlier. In January, Jobs took medical leave before resigning as CEO in August and handling over his heavy responsibilities to Tim Cook. In his resignation letter Jobs delivered, “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.” As the mastermind and face of Apple, Steve Jobs represented the company’s dedication in transforming technology into desirable and ubiquitous product.

On Some Real Shit

Here is a song to download! Its Mac Miller's "On Some Real Shit."

DayToday Season Final Episode

As stated from the very first Fuggin' Friday post Wiz Khalifa is one of my favorite artists. This is part 3 of his birthday video and it also seems like this will be the last DayToday video ever as stated in the description. As much as I think that is a mistake because it brings fans to a closer point a view with the artist, it could be overbearing for Wiz. It says also that new things are in the future so we will see how that goes.

Check out his YouTube to view more if you are interested.

Hope you enjoyed the third post for the Fuggin' Friday feature. Tune in next week for another Fuggin' Friday weekly post!

Throwback Thursday #3

The third Throwback Thursday features Panda Vuitton, Young L, and Gata with the past song "Dead Fresh" that dropped a little over a year ago!

Young L Exclusive Interview

Young L Exclusive Interview

Check out this interview with Young L (LaStereo.Tv) about being ultra creative, an introvert, The Pack, Imogen Heap, rapper vs producer, and not being your standard rapper. Young L is steady posted on this site, I have been a fan since the very beginning of The Pack and nothing has really changed from that till now stemming from little things. I still believe he is an underrated producer, a great lyricist, and really creative with his music. He is the perfect example of a person and an artist doing what he wants and still remaining "cool" and relevant with it even though it's away from "the norm." If you haven't downloaded As I Float: The Great John Nash, download it here. Anything in the future with L will always be posted on this site as it always has.

Victor Klaus Interview

Victor Klaus Interview

Tell us about yourself. Whats your name? Where are you from?
-Victor Klaus from Victorville, CA (Yep.... I know).

What does the word "based" mean to you?
-Honestly up until a couple months ago I didn't know what it was haha. I had to look it up... I'd describe it as pretty much just doing your own thing. Not going out the way to be a certain way, just being yourself without any care to what others will think of it...

How did you get into the directors chair/behind the camera? What inspired you and still inspires you?
-I've always been into making movies ever since I was a kid... I made my first movie at age 10 it was a James Bond ripoff type thing called 000 (Pronounced like Double O, Zero). I used to record on my parents big ass VHS camcorder and edit with two VCR's linked up together to make a sketchy edit station. I used to film skate videos, did all that, little movies with my friends.... After High School I got my Bachelors at film school. Interned at The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard.com and began working there full time. Still there now..... So I bought a camera and started doing videos for my friends. Then The Rangers hit me up and wanted to do HOTEL ROOM and LAY YOU DOWN. We banged those out and the rest is history. Now I have a nice base of projects and people working with me. Inspired by the little things... Random moments.... Everything. But most of all watching other people's videos gets me psyched to try and push myself. I'm just scratching the surface, I'm up for whatever comes.

What upcoming projects are you working on, any particular one special to you or one your excited for?
-Anything I do with Flip Major always turns out ridiculous. He's so crazy. It's hard to think of one project in particular I'm excited about.... I guess it would be Spencer Bonds "No One" video which will be coming out this October. It's already finished and I've showed it to some people and it's got good responses. It's a real off the wall style video. I've typically done performance based videos--you know cool shots, slow mo, rapping, thats about it--this one is real creepy and strange. And I've focused less on the rapping and more on crazy visuals. That's the direction I want to go toward these days.... More visuals. More ideas. More creative. It's hard to do that with low budgets and up and coming artists due to costs being kept to a minimum, but I'm trying to expand my videos in that way, and looking for more artists who have a less is more mentality. We don't always need crowds, parties, and tons of chicks. These days people are paying attention to more than just that.... So I'm trying to be creative and challenge myself. I'm not always successful at doing that. But hey I'm just getting started.... and it's a fun ride.

Overall, whats your favorite video that you've ever created?
-Up until this point I'd say for a while it was Spencer Bonds GREEN SUBMARINE...Just because it was so different from most of the videos I had done so far... It was the first step in me getting more creative. It was a good attempt and did what I wanted it to do....but now I'm really excited for people to see/talk about the NO ONE video this October.... I know they'll be shocked. I just want to see the comments. Let's just say Tyler the Creator fans would approve. All in all, I love lots of my videos.... I've never been good at picking favorites haha. I'll say Flip Major PARIS HILTON, Spencer Bonds NO ONE, Pete G PUNCTUATE, and The Rangers HOTEL ROOM.

Are there any artists out there you would like to work with, but haven't got the chance yet?
-YES. Most definitely.... Anyone who has good music and is down to create something interesting.

Besides your own videos, whats a video out right now that really caught your eye?
-Not really a fan of Tyler The Creator's music, but his video for "She" is pretty dope. Oh yeah and the OverDoz video for "Pasadena". Just those two off the top of my head....

What is something that people don't know about you?
-That I actually don't know what I'm doing! Haha.

Whats some advice you can give the people that want to get behind the camera and into the directors chair?
-Shit. Honestly, I don't even feel like I have advice that anyone should take. Haha. I worked hard but I do think I got handed some good cards.... Just do you. Do what you want to do and have the passion to make things happen for yourself. Don't even expect anything out of it.... Just do it.... Ah did I really just end that with Nike's slogan. Oops.

Where can people find more about you?
