Tell us about your company. What’s the name? How did it come to be?

DopeHut is an online streetwear store. I started another streetwear store a couple years back that didn’t work out, but I learned a lot from that experience. I learned how difficult it is for small stores to compete in e-commerce. I also learned that there is a huge demand from independent clothing brands for ways to control their distribution. DopeHut’s goal is to provide everything a brand would need to succeed. I know if DopeHut can help brands succeed; there is no way this company can fail.

Behind The Scenes: The Hundreds

How huge is The Hundreds? Huge enough to own their own screenprinting shop. After sharing the story behind the roots of his brand, Bobby Hundreds is now taking us behind the scenes of The Hundreds’ screenprinting shop, Mixed Media Productions in downtown Los Angeles. This is the same shop that The Hundreds contracted at the beginning for runs of 24 or 36 shirts at a time, before it buying out when the brand’s rapid growth necessitated a dedicated shop to produce a volume that could keep pace. Here, we’re introduced to Jon Hundreds, who manages all of the printing details within, along with a cast of a few other characters dedicated to keeping The Hundreds’ design machine and silkscreening process chugging along smoothly.

Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap Trailer


“Hip-Hop is a masterpiece, but nobody painted it all.” As the reel begins to play for the upcoming “Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap” movie, the trailer welcomes us into a dialogue between some of music’s most iconic and recognizable faces. Directed by Ice-T, the movie follows the journey of rap through its progressive eras to shed light on its growth into a globally dominating force. To name a few, the footage highlights appearances from Eminem, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Nas, KRS-One, and Snoop Dogg. The film is currently slated for a June 15 release.

Tell us about yourself. What's your name? Where are you from?

My name is Marcus Smith but I perform as Marc Garvy. I'm from Oakland CA the 70's to be exact

How did you get your start in the music industry? Who or what inspired you?

I started with a production company called Forest of Souls. The CEO (Robert Wooten) would start a beat and I would just go over it and add more to it. I was making my own tracks also. He liked what I did and started selling the beats to up and coming independent record companies etc.I have always loved music every since I could remember. My mom said when I was 1 maybe 2 I would rip her speakers open looking for the music or the people making the music inside it.

To celebrate his upcoming guest-lecture at New York University, which sold out in under 15 minutes, Berkeley’s Lil B has dropped a new 20-track mixtape. This mixtape is clearly inspired by Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 2, judging from the artwork and title, Lil B’s The Basedprint 2 is now available to download here, while his NYU lecture is slated for this Wednesday, April 11.

Instagram on Android Market

The popular photo-sharing app Instagram has finally made its debut on Google’s Android operating system. The app will work with Android devices running the 2.2 operating system or higher. It also offers support for front and rear cameras as well as instant sharing to Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and other social services. According to Instagram’s blog post that shared the news, more than 30 million people use the app on Apple’s iOS mobile platform. Instagram can be downloaded for free here.
