Here is the fifty-fourth Fuggin' Friday feature. Enjoy! If you don't know what a Fuggin' Friday post is, check out all the info here.
Inside the Brooklyn Nets’ New High-Tech Arena
The Brooklyn Nets hope that having the most technologically-advanced stadium in sports bodes well for the future of their team. It took nine years and numerous court battles to build Barclays Center, but the 1 billion dollar building was finally unveiled to the public last week. Aesthetically, the structure is an organic ode to the future — metal plates of varying sizes, curves and flowing lines — most notable for the Oculus, a gigantic 360-degree high-definition display that will show live game footage, movies and even art installations. Within its walls, some 18,200 fans will enjoy free Wi-Fi, food and beverage apps, and 8,000 square feet of LED signage. Watch the video above for an in-depth glimpse into the Nets’ new high-tech home court. Brooklyn, it seems, does go pretty hard after all.
adidas Originals Tech Street Mid
Inspired by the brand’s mid-top basketball styles of the ’90s, adidas Originals presents the Tech Street Mid. A casual off-court sneaker with a progressive edge, the Tech Street Mid offers premium nubuck and patent leather construction alongside an icy outsole, bold Trefoil branding, and an oversized tongue that would be right at home amongst the sportswear giant’s collaborative line with Jeremy Scott. Seen here in an Aluminum/Lab Green colorway and also available in a predominately black makeup, the adidas Originals Tech Street Mid will retail for $110 USD and is set to drop this Saturday, September 29 at select retailers.
Missoni x Converse 2012 Fall/Winter “Archive Project”
One of the stronger ongoing collaborations as of late, Missoni and Converse strengthen ties this Fall/Winter 2012 for their sixth season working together with the unveiling of their “Archive Project.” Underneath the coveted Converse First String umbrella, the limited edition collaboration collection features a series of 20 footwear iterations that are made up from deadstock Missoni fabrics and textiles. The models of choice for the collection see the iconic Converse Auckland Racer and Pro Leather being used for the one-of-a-kind mockups.
Justin Timberlake Teases New Myspace Relaunch
One-time social media giant Myspace is on the verge of its relaunch, receiving help along the way in both investments and marketing from multi-platinum pop star/actor Justin Timberlake. On the new Myspace, users will be able integrate their current Facebook and Twitter accounts and even bring photos from those platforms with them. In the teaser video, it is readily apparent that Myspace abandoned all aesthetic connections with its past, instead opting for a streamlined, contemporary look. While further details are currently unavailable, such as how Myspace’s popular music sharing features will be updated on the new site, for now, users can go to new.Myspace.com and register for an account.
