Sony Debuts Massive 84-Inch 4K TV

For those who find that their 55-inch TV is no longer cutting it, Sony has just debuted the solution to all your problems. Officially dubbed the XBR-84X900, this monstrous TV boasts an 84-inch 3480 x 2160 resolution LCD screen as well as a detachable 10-speaker audio system. Its 4K resolution display features 8 million pixels for a resolution offering 4x that of a regular HD screen. In addition to the gorgeous display, the TV also features built-in Wi-Fi and a slew of apps such as Netflix and Pandora. Set to ship sometime later this year, expect to fork over a princely sum for one of these.

I’ve always loved the term Popular Demand. Anything that’s back by popular demand has got to be good. The term also plays with the balance of serious and fun that we try to incorporate into our designs. When you hear the words on their own you immediately associate them with completely different things, but together they create a sense of urgency.

Artistic Tuesday #4

Here is the fourth Artistic Tuesday post. Enjoy yourself! If you don't know what a Artistic Tuesday post is, check out all the info here. Landscapes: Volume 2 is the second of a three part series according to the author. Every frame of this video is a raw still from a Canon 5D2 DSLR and processed with Adobe software. In Volume 2 Dustin Farrell again shows off his beautiful home state of Arizona. He also made several trips to Utah as well. This video has some iconic landmarks that we have seen before. He felt that showing them again with motion controlled HDR and/or night timelapse would be a new way to see old landmarks.

This was filmed during August 2011 and this appropriately is entitled "The Water." This is TSO Photography's interpretation of the fjord landscape in western Norway. He has spent countless days here, so he really enjoyed even the smallest parts of this landscape like hidden streams or dwarfish waterfalls outside of the beaten track that offer a great deal of solitude.

With the London Olympics finally in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to take a look back on the plethora of unique gear we saw the athletes using during, and in-between their respective events. One of these items was the custom gold Beats headphones given immediately to Team USA gold medal winners, at which we’re finally given a chance glimpse. Yes, there is yet another weekly feature that will take place on The Based Update! On a weekly basis, besides all of the music industry type things that are posted on this site, there will be more art now as well (Artistic Tuesdays). I am extremely into art in many forms, as you know I am a graphic designer so my taste is never-ending. Art is one of the most important things in life so on Tuesdays you will be able to see what I am talking about. For the majority of these posts I believe it will be time-lapsed videos and short movies because those are my favorite. I know you will enjoy what I will post here so please tune in later today at 3:00 pm PST for the first post! Looking forward to hear what everyone thinks.

Apple iPhone 5 & iPad Mini to be Unveiled During September 12 Event

After rampant speculation, credible sources are now pointing to two definitive dates for the unveil and release of both the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 will mark the official look at two of the more sought-after items, while September 21 will serve as the date in which the products will be available for public consumption. In addition, Apple typically shows off hardware-specific iOS features at new iPhone events as well – with last year serving as the introduction to advanced camera and video recording, Voice Control, FaceTime and Siri. As the rumor mill continues to swirl, many anticipate the iPad Mini to be 7 inches in size – nearly 3 inches smaller than the previous model. While Apple has yet to comment, expect a confirmation or denial very shortly as the sources of the rumor come from individuals who have proved accurate in the past.
