Without Young L there would be no Wolfpack. His sound has always been ahead of its time, and whatever inspired or drove him to push those buttons in a way that they weren’t being pushed, at least in the US, at every stage of his career, elevated him and his three other band mates to international fame with Vans and of course ushered us into the era of the Based God. L recently provided the harder edge to The Pack‘s monumental new album Wolfpack Party, which found a comfortable balance between his own brand of verging-on-dubstep sub-slap and Cyrano of The Cataracs‘s Euro synth pop. On ‘L-E-N’ we get the more experimental end of his sound spectrum, totally in one zone over 15 based bangers, leaving us in no doubt that Young L is one of the most crucial producers doing it and someone who will continue to push the boundaries, giving that UK edge to the US market.
