Here is the thirty-sixth Fuggin' Friday feature. Enjoy! If you don't know what a Fuggin' Friday post is, check out all the info here.
Staple Design x Beats By Dre 2012 Studio Headphones
Staple Design is in love with the process of branding and aligning its creativity with brands that have a clear and confident message. The latest from the collective sees a joint effort alongside Beats by Dre on a very limited collaborative Studio Headphones for 2012. All of the Beats amenities like Monster headphone cables, the folding design, and included touring case are present in the Staple edition. The special earcans will also be getting custom packaging and Staple’s signature logo hit — the pigeon on the cups. To celebrate the launch of the collaboration, Staple is throwing a party at the Beats SoHo Store on May 24, with DJ Soul. While the headphones don’t hit the streets until May 25, attendees can pre-order one of the 500 pairs worldwide, and also get their hands on a special edition Beats by Dre x Staple New Era hat and T-shirt.
Benny Gold x Mighty Healthy “Stay Hungry” Capsule Collection
Benny Gold and Mighty Healthy agree, that the fruits of their respective successes as streetwear labels began humbly — “with a single seed.” This “Stay Hungry” capsule collection between the two brands highlights their strong work ethic, and focused approach to both graphic design and fashion design, with Mighty Healthy’s signature knife through the New York ‘big apple’ being replaced by Benny Gold’s classic paper airplane. You can grab one of the shirts or the snapback (or all three) from the collection via the Benny Gold online store.
Vans Vault 2012 Summer OG Era LX Pack
Vans is digging deep into its vault — all the way back to 1975, for this special edition OG Era LX Pack for the (no pun intended) Vans Vault Summer 2012 collection. The OG Era LX shoe is, as the title implies, a homage to the classic that stays true to the same foxing heights, branding, padding density, and fit of the original as designed by Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. The pack consists of two different colorways, and is expected to land at Vans Vault stockists beginning this June.
After seeing the new trailer for the film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 literary classic The Great Gatsby, it’s already hard to imagine the period film being directed by anyone other than Baz Luhrmann. The story follows a fledgling writer chasing the American dream to New York City in the early 1920s, and is drawn into Gatsby’s world where “the parties were bigger, the morals were looser, and the liquor was cheaper,” to write his own story of love, dreams and tragedy. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the titular mysterious Jay Gatsby, with Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton also starring. We’ll have to wait until this December when the film lands in theaters to know whether or not Fitzgerald will be rolling in his grave.
