BET Hip Hop Awards 2012: The Cyphers

Undoubtedly one of the best elements of the annual BET Hip Hop awards is the pairing of different emcees as part of their The Cyphers series. Forgoing the usual format, this year sees the 16-bar assault arranged by camp – including T.I.’s Grand Hustle and DMX’s Ruff Ryders – while other notable collections include “The West Coast” (Snoop, DJ Quik, E40, Xzibit, Kurupt, Kendrick Lamar, YG), “The Man with the Iron Fists” (A$AP Rocky, Angel Haze, Joey BadA$$, Childish Gambino and Driiky Graham), “The Raw” (Mac Miller, Mystikal, ScHoolboy Q, Hopsin and Sprite Hot 16 Winner Jay Bird the Purdi Boi) and “The True School” (Talib Kweli, Jean Grae, Ab Soul and Sarkodie).

Nike Graphic Studio Art Show 3.0

This Saturday Nike’s Graphic Studio will hold its third charity art show with a new collection of work from some of Nike’s most talented artists. Dubbed “Outside the Box,” the Portland, Oregon exhibition will house a collection of Nike-inspired projects from a lengthy list of artists and designers. With all proceeds going to The Girl Effect, a global charity that empowers adolescent girls to raise themselves and their families out of poverty through education, swing by Gallery135 Saturday evening and donate what you can.

Rick Ross – The Black Bar Mitzvah (Mixtape)

Rick Ross releases his newest mixtape along with its controversial cover art featuring himself atop the Star of David. Ricky Rozay’s 18-track-long mixtape sees a number of instrumentals used in songs from G.O.O.D Music, Juicy J, Future and 2 Chainz, to name but a few. Fittingly named The Black Bar Mitzvah, the tape also features guests Diddy, Drake, Pharrell, and a handful of members from the Maybach Music Group. The entire mixtape can be streamed below, courtesy of DatPiff, and can be downloaded here.
