Kendrick Lamar – good kid, m.A.A.d. city (Review)

As a genre, hip-hop has often been confronted with stereotypes of materialistic tendencies and lack of substance. Whether you agree or disagree with this notion, you cannot deny that Kendrick Lamar has provided the rap game with a breath of fresh air through his complex, thought-provoking lyricism in the past couple of years. Apple Introduces the New iMac

Apple today unveiled a completely new iMac with a stunning design, brilliant display with reduced reflection, and faster processors. With third generation Intel quad-core processors, powerful NVIDIA graphics, and an innovative new storage option called Fusion Drive, the new iMac is the most advanced desktop Apple has ever made. Redesigned from the inside out, the new iMac packs high-performance technology into an aluminum and glass enclosure with up to 40 percent less volume than its predecessor and an edge that measures just 5 mm thin. Built with an unprecedented level of fit and finish, the new iMac delivers an amazing desktop experience in a gorgeous design. The new iMac also features a completely re-engineered display that reduces reflection by 75 percent while maintaining brilliant color and contrast. In the new design, the cover glass is fully laminated to the LCD and an anti-reflective coating is applied using a high-precision plasma deposition process. Every iMac display is individually color calibrated using an advanced spectroradiometer. The 21.5-inch iMac will become available in November, while the 27-inch will see a release in December. Further pricing details are available here.

Acapulco Gold Fall 2012 Lookbook

Offering yet another “Sunny Place for Shady People,” Acapulco Gold‘s lookbook for Fall/Winter 2012 displays both the brand’s expansion of its product offerings and development of its ethos. Again, the label’s headwear range is a standout — a collection of New Era fitteds, snapbacks and knit beanies emblazoned with a medley of prints and logos — digital fair isle, chip camo and Lo Bears among them. The tees take on a distinctively Japanese flavor for the season, with koi fish and geisha-printed shirts added to the mix of Acapulco Gold’s signature graphics. It’s this season’s cut and sew line, however, that perhaps best displays its willingness to evolve and mature as a brand – the Scorpion ‘G’ Baseball Jacket, for instance, is crafted from Canadian Melton Wool and made in the USA – a nod to the company’s commitment to quality. Camouflage corduroy work pants, flannel shirts, and street basics like hoodies and crewneck sweaters round out the collection. Look for Acapulco Gold’s Fall/Winter 2012 items now at their online store.

Wilson x New Era A-Frame Snapback

Coinciding with the NFL International Series game at London’s Wembley Stadium on October 26, New Era teams up with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. to release a cap embodying the characteristics of a traditional American football ball. Paying homage to the good ol’ pig skin, the cap is constructed using authentic on-field leather and features NFL’s iconic crest in the front. The entire 2012 International Series teams can be seen embossed on the left, while Wilson’s ‘The Duke’ title is present on the right panel. As only six pieces were made, this highly exclusive cap will retail for a cool price of £250 GBP (approximately $400 USD).
